What is Google Maps?

Google Maps is an online mapping service application and technology developed and provided by Google. The GMaps API powers many location based services, including popular services such as the Google Maps website, Google Transit, and also maps embedded on third-party websites and third-party mobile applications as well. Google Maps offers street maps, road maps, and an advanced route planner that allows users to get walking, biking, transit, and driving directions. Google Maps is also the backbone of Google Places, the local business and information service that now even includes Zagat reviews. Google's urban business locator is available in many countries around the world. Google also provides indoor maps, 3d maps, and traffic information.
